Introduction
More than 100,000 people report employment discrimination and harassment to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and its state and local partner agencies each year. Most of these complaints are kept confidential — the public never learns the names of accused employers or details of what was alleged. Many cases of job discrimination aren’t reported to the government at all. Some workers can’t file because they’re not covered by legal protections. And while thousands of lawsuits are filed each year, many workers can’t go to court because of private arbitration agreements.
We want to get a deeper understanding of how employment discrimination is persisting and affecting people in the United States.
If you believe you’ve experienced employment discrimination, we want to hear from you. A few of the things we hope to learn more about are how employers discriminate and react to complaints, how workers in different industries and of different backgrounds are impacted, and what barriers keep people from filing complaints or getting remedies. We won’t share any details of what you submit without your permission. (We might share aggregated data from the survey results, but that won’t include any information that can identify you.) You may be contacted by a reporter to follow up on your response.

The biggest issue is that we have an agency that is not being monitored. As a federal employee, each federal agency set these claims up for the EEOC while the public rely on the EEOC. The Federal employees are being scammed out of claims because the people who are setting them up have no employment law understanding. After several years has past, they lose and do not know why. There are also ZERO interview times available even if you check at midnight like they told me too on the phone. I can’t go forward with anything else without the interview! No lawyers will take my case, no agencies will help me nothing. EEOC is all im leaning on and they aren’t doing shit.
The EEOC has no interview times. I filed in June, I’ve been checking constantly all day, all night every single day. They told me to check at midnight because thats before people schedule them, NOPE! No interviews and you can only schedule the week of, can’t look forward. I’ve been waiting months already and am running out of time! No lawyers, no agencies, no one will help me so the EEOC is what im leaning on for justice and theyre not doing anything at all! They just tell you to keep checking, that does nothing! They don’t care at all.
Heather, I am sorry to hear you are going through such a hard time with your case. Are you a Federal or State employee? The reason I ask is because there is a shortage in the EEOC and most of the counselors who perform the interviews are overwhelmed and institutionalized. I say hang in there, if you don’t think your complaint is important and a violation of your rights, who will. The problem is huge and it is going to take folks like us to keep saying. “there is a problem”. The challenge I have experienced as a Federal employee for over 20 years is that management has ZERO accountability for the wrongdoing and they ALWAYS blame the employee. I will say that there is some justice if you persist on having your day in court and YOU KNOW YOUR RIGHTS.
