In 2006 the Center caught New York City’s outspoken Democratic rep Charlie Rangel breaking ethics rules. Our reporters found the congressman had accepted inappropriate payments for a trip to Cuba, where he was accompanied by both his wife and his son.
And this is now . . .
Ethical questions are raised twice in two weeks regarding Rangel. Last week The Washington Post flagged the congressman’s fundraising efforts for an academic center that will house his papers, while the week before The New York Times investigated how and why Rangel came to have four rent-stabilized apartments in one building.
